libdc1394

libdc1394 is an open-source library that provides a complete high-level application programming interface (API) for developers who wish to control IEEE-1394 cameras that conform to the IIDC/DCAM Specifications.

The library currently runs on Linux, Mac OSX and Windows. libdc1394 almost completely implements the latest IIDC standard and a flexible, high-performance DMA video capture is part of the library. libdc1394 also includes several extras such as support for vendor specific features, colour space conversion and a series of demosaicing algorithms for raw images. Example programs are proposed for both beginners and more advanced users.

For very specific tasks or hardware, libdc1394 provides direct-access functions to the camera registers. The library works with all IIDC-compliant cameras, which includes all currently shipping products from Point Grey. References include INRIA, MIT, EPFL, CERN, SRI, JPL, WHOI, NASA, CMU and many other prestigious research institutions, laboratories and companies.
